Welcome to Todoy.Me. We value your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This policy explains how we handle your information, specifically regarding our use of Location, Microphone permissions, and our research-driven data analysis.

1. Sensitive Permissions & Data Usage

A. Location Data (Background Access)

Todoy.Me provides location-based task reminders. To do this, the app requires access to your location even when the app is closed or not in use.

• How we use it: We use your coordinates to check if you are near a "resolved location" or "nearby place" associated with your tasks.
• Background Usage: We utilize background services (Workmanager) to periodically check your proximity to task locations so we can send you timely notifications.
• Data Retention: Your precise location is used locally to trigger alerts and is not stored on our servers for tracking your movement history.

B. Microphone & Speech Recognition

Todoy.Me includes a "Smart Add" feature that allows you to create tasks using your voice.

• How we use it: When you tap or long-press the microphone icon, the app uses your device's microphone and speech-to-text engine to convert your voice into task text.
• Audio Data: We do not record, store, or transmit your raw audio files to our servers. Audio is processed into text on-device or via the platform's standard speech service (Apple/Google).

C. Research Logs (The Geofence Shuffle 2.0)

As part of our mission to build the future of productivity, we maintain an anonymized audit trail of how our AI and Location services perform.

• What we log: We capture the raw text of tasks created, the AI's interpreted categorizations, and the proximity results from the Maps API.
• Anonymization: Research logs are stripped of direct personal identifiers. While we record that "a user" requested a task, the log itself focuses on the technical accuracy of the resolution.
• Purpose: This data is used solely to tune our "Geofence Shuffle" algorithms, improving battery efficiency and location accuracy for all users.

2. Data We Collect

• Account Information: We use Firebase Authentication to secure your account. This includes your email and display name provided during sign-up.
• Task Content: Your tasks, items, and comments are stored in Firestore. This data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
• Location Metadata: We record store names and categories associated with your tasks to provide the "Smart Mode" sorting features.
• Usage Data: We may collect data on app performance and crash reports to improve stability.

3. Data Sharing & Security

We do not sell your personal data. Your information is only shared in the following contexts:

• Collaboration: If you use the "Share Task" feature, the collaborator you invite will be able to see that specific task and its items.
• Service Providers: We use Google Firebase for infrastructure, Google Maps Platform for location services, and Resend for transactional emails.
• Security: We implement administrative, technical, and physical security measures to help protect your personal information.

4. Data Deletion & Account Control

We believe you should have full control over your data. You may exercise the following rights at any time:

• Instant Account Deletion: You can permanently delete your account and all associated data directly within the app via the Profile > Settings > Delete Account menu. This action is immediate and irreversible.
• Data Eradication: Upon deletion, we purge your personal identifiers, task history, and location metadata from our active production databases (Firestore and Firebase Auth).
• Revoking Permissions: You can stop all location and microphone access by adjusting your device's system settings. Note that disabling background location will disable location-based reminders.
• Research Log Opt-Out: If you wish to have your anonymized technical logs removed, please contact our support team with your unique User ID before initiating account deletion.
